Netflix to Report Box Office for Six Upcoming Films: Includes 'La Bola Negra' Starring Penélope Cruz
Netflix will report box-office grosses for six upcoming releases: Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, La Bola Negra, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, The Mosquito Bowl and Ink.
Netflix will begin publishing box-office results for six upcoming films, a departure from its usual practice of withholding theatrical grosses.
All six films
The slate comprises Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, the animated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, La Bola Negra, David Fincher’s The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, Peter Berg’s The Mosquito Bowl, and Danny Boyle’s Ink.
La Bola Negra is set to receive Netflix’s longest theatrical window at that point, opening October 16 before streaming December 2. Narnia is planned for a wide run, including IMAX, lasting nearly 50 days, while Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is set for a 47-day wide run over Christmas.
Variety’s sources said Netflix will still make theatrical-release decisions film by film; the move was not presented as a permanent company-wide policy for every title.
